this will be the last update for a long, long time. i'm putting a lot of effort into Olifant, http://whereisolifant.blogspot.com/ and will not be using this site for work purposes as i'm still at nbc and it looks like i could be there for a while.
Sept. 2009
well the olifant site is good but i'm working on an even better one. i have a new full time job (nbc).
and it occured to me this summer when people find out that i'm an animator they always ask me if they've ever seen anything that i've ever done.
Feb 2009
new website! www.whereisolifant.com
space crew is back in business (i can't believe it) and ward green is in the rewrite stage. the moral of this month is to cast a wide net and have a lot of patience.
Jan 2009
well i've finally gotten around to developing Ward Green and i've joined a social network site:
Visit WheresSpot
View my page on WheresSpot
back to teaching at nyu and hoping this year is better then the last.
October 2008
well Space Crew is done. done, done, done. i'm sick and tired of people commiting to a project then flaking out before it's over.
you can check out my projects page to see where i stopped. from now on i'm sticking to my dinosaur.
i'll be teaching at nyu again next semester.
May 2008
here's a link to the previously mentioned article i wrote about my experience at kidscreen that was published in the ASIFA East newsletter the aNYmator: link
i'm starting teaching again too. this time at NYU and just for the summer.
April 2008
i just started a 6 month gig, olifant is being repped at miptv in cannes now, rjr is over, for me at least and i just got an article
i wrote about my experience at kidscreen in this month's aNYmator.
and i going to be starting up a new project/collaboration soon. more on that later.
Feb 2008
a few years ago i bought a painting at a flea market in the slope. it's signed guzik. a quick internet search later
and i found out that it's by brooklyn painter murray guzik. here it is:
bought it for $40. it's really beautiful. i just hope that some other guzik collectors enjoy this as much as i do.
Jan 2008
well rocket jr. is almost, but not dead yet. but olifant is still alive and kickin'. hoping to get a pitch out this week.
i wrote a children's book for bas. had a good year biz wise in '07. hopefully '08 will be the same or better.
i've been compiling work for a new reel. if i don't get busy i'll update it next week. if i get booked then maybe this year.
the tarantella film took a backseat when i decided to animate a holiday card. unfortunately i was too busy to finish it up.
but here's my holiday card, which is a bit like what it will look like.

Sept 2007
i have a new website. really cool projects that i'll probably never put up 'cause i've been busy.
i have an olifant page up now on the projects page. it'll change a lot since i'm busy developing it.
and here's my latest martha's vineyard painting:

one of these days i'll get them all together.
Feb. 2007
the only thing of real interest is that i've updated my projects site, here.
i've put up a page on olifant and rocket jr.
and i have officially started my new film. just keepin' busy.
Sept. 2006
at long last jed and i are pitching the project, Rocket Jr. can't show any images yet, but soon.
more cool commercial work and a hoopty car for a UN spot. movies when i get them.

moma was lots of fun. scarlett johansson was there for the premiere of scoop the same night. that made it even funner.
July 2006
new reel! go here
here's a cool image that didn't make the cut

also i got mentioned in david levy's new book "your career in animation".
hope to see you at MoMA
June 2006
I'm a part of TOMORROWLAND: CalArts in Moving Pictures at the Musuem of Modern Art. And I type it oh so nonchalantly!
My film Charivari will be playing Wednesday, July 26, 8:00 and Sunday, July 30, 3:00. Check it out and say "hi". I'll be at both shows.
Lot's of new work stuff but can't show it yet.
And Rocket Jr. is so close to being done. Just some final layout tweaks and I'll have it up.
Mar 2006
i've been busy lately. lots of commercials and tests with some big names.

the big names are:
nhl
kmart
r. weil (ok, this one's not so big)
bank of america (now showing in times square)
sprint
planters (not shown)
i also worked on a pringles commercial.
i'm compiling some work to update my reel. eta is some time this spring.
the tv show designs are almost done. i'm hoping to put them up in the next few months.
Jan
some models i've made this month...

Dec
well this is kind of interesting: my friend edisa told me about an animation contest a year or 2 ago.
out of 569 it was somewhere in the top 40. you can see it here: escape by dxvitarelli.
i don't think it was shown in times square but kinda cool nonetheless.
this month i'm doing a planters and a pringles ad. nice and high profile but the perks from the new balance job (free sneakers!) were much better.
you can see my some of my latest work here:
newbalanceZIP nhl

when things get slow i'll update my reel. probably in february.
Nov
The "Miss Spider's Tea Party Read with Me DVD" that I directed is out.
Go here to see it. It's so good I bought my own copy.

Here is a cover I created for David Kirk's latest book:

It's in stores now.
I've also been approached to develop a children's tv show. That is going along very well. Hopefully I'll have some images to show soon.
Also the freelance biz is keeping me very busy.
And I'm in the process of starting my own biz with an old friend. Hopefully we'll be up and running next year.
Whew.
It's no wonder my film idea, based on the tarentella, is still on hold.
